OKAY PEOPLE: IT’S FINALLY TIME FOR THAT GIVEAWAY THAT I’VE CONTINUALLY SAID IS HAPPENING BUT NEVER GOT AROUND TO DOING UNTIL NOW

This giveaway is to thank you guys for 800 followers which I still don’t believe that I actually have, so before any of the details, have a GREAT BIG THANK YOU

Alright, so important stuff.

There will be three winners of this contest, picked completely at random! I’ll be using a random number generator to pick the winner from the list of reblogs.

The prizes are as follows:

  • 1st place: You may pick ONE item that is $30 or under from Alicexz’s Society 6 shop (photos of their work in the first row of photos), ONE item from Reapersun’s Redbubble shop (photos of their work in the middle row), and ONE item from Areyoutryingtodeduceme’s Adagio tea shop! (photos of their artwork featured on the labels of the teas in the final row pf photos.)
  • 2nd place: You may pick ONE item that is under $30 from EITHER Alicexz’s Society 6 shop OR Reapersun’s Redbubble shop, and ONE additional item from Areyoutryingtodeduceme’s Adagio tea shop!
  • 3rd place: You may pick ONE item that is under $30 from EITHER Alicexz’s Society 6 shop OR Reapersun’s Redbubble shop.
So some pretty good stuff happening here.
Now, rules.
  • Reblog to win!
  • ONLY 2 REBLOGS PER DAY. ANY MORE, AND YOU CAN’T WIN. (Seriously, if you clog up people’s dashes I will be very very unhappy with you.)
  • Likes don’t count, but you can like the post if you want I suppose, there’s no harm in that.
  • You don’t have to be following me, but I might post updates about the giveaway from time to time and you’ll see them easier if you are!
THE CONTEST ENDS JULY 30th SO YOU HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO REBLOG
So thank you to my followers for following me! And a huge thank you to these three artists who make the world a better place with their awesomeness.

Time for the next round of Fandom Tea Blends Giveaways! This week’s tea blend was hard to pick, but I just couldn’t resist doing Sherlock’s any longer *w*! Read below for more reviews/information on the tea, and how to win your own bag of it, as well as an ingenuiTEA tea pot!

THE SHERLOCK BLEND: All at once exotic and mysterious and perhaps a little bit insane, with a lingering hint of smoke. (lapsang souchong, assam melody, oriental spice)
MY REVIEW OF IT: “It smells amazing. I wanted to stick my whole head in the bag. I was actually afraid I had overdone it with the Oriental Spice tea since that’s pretty much all I could smell in the bag. However, once I brewed it, BAM! So smokey. Definitely a very smokey tea, but not nearly as strong as a Lapsang by itself, and once the smokey taste fades you really start to taste the spice again. It’s awesome. I tried it first without adding anything, but there are very few teas I can drink plain. I added a splash of milk and a spoonful of sugar and it was perfect *w*”
WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
“Dark, smoky, and spicy is the best way to describe this tea. It smells extremely smoky in the bag (almost reminiscent of barbecue sauce), but it mellows out a bit when steeped. You can definitely taste the smoke, but it is balanced nicely by the spice.”-Michelle T.
“Best of these blends I’ve tried so far. If there’s one tea that can stand up to a spices, Lapsang Souchong is probably it. The assam melody likely bolsters it as well, and seems to have helped with what usually throws off people I try to introduce to Lapsang: they smell it, and it reminds them of barbecue sauce—not a problem with this blend. It’s perfect: dark, smooth, smoky, and all of those other lovely things, with not-overpowering spice. Perfection.”-Katrina W.
” This is actually a really warming blend, in my opinion. The smokey aroma reminds me of a dimly lit room and a cigar or cigarette and the warm and spicy flavor soothe me to my core.”-Alicia B.
“Dark, spicy and sensually smoky. I was hesitant at first, but after a spoonful of sugar, I melted right in.”-Abigail L.
“It’s difficult to describe. A hint of…danger? I sound silly, but it really is an intriguing blend. Like you have to drink more to figure it out. All in all, a perfect blend for Sherlock.“-Kayla B.

HOW TO WIN:

You may reblog this post ONCE a day for the next week. I’ll go through the notes and use a random number generator to chose a winner the evening of APRIL 14th

(Sorry this is so long, tumblr won’t let me un-indent all the things without messing the hyperlinks up BLUH. So press J to skip.)

I just went back through over 900 liked posts and dug out all the art tutorials so i can keep track of them. I guess this might be helpful to some of you guys, so here you go.

Some of these were gutted from posts where the original was deleted and so can’t be linked to in the masterpost list - especially one by Tumblr user melkh who has since either deleted or changed their url, so props to them.

Here we go then!

Freeware

Alchemy- this is a really fun program. You play around making abstract shapes until you start to see something in them, kind of like a Rorschach test. Then you use the shapes as a base to draw it from.
MyPaint- a pretty decent painting program that also has the benefit of working on Unix systems.
openCanvas 1.1- I haven’t used openCanvas in years but it was a nice program with a pretty unique feel to it.
ArtRage- Only used this a couple of times donkey’s years ago just before I got oC, but I’ve heard good things about it.
The GIMP - In a similar vein to Photoshop, but free. I couldn’t get on with it when I tried it out a few years ago, but it’s pretty popular and is available on Unix systems and Macs.

Not-free-ware

Photoshop- Standard painting fare. Probably the most flexible program (particularly the latest versions) but not designed to act in a “natural” way. If you’ve used it for painting versus something like Painter you know what I mean. Who the fuck pays for it though? Google “Photoshop tumblr masterpost” and take your pick.
Paint Tool Sai- Far more affordable and definitely worth paying for if you can. The brushes are very decent (especially when they’ve been tweaked a little), the gui is simple and intuitive, and I dare you to find a program with which making smooth lineart is easier.
Corel Painter- My program of choice for most things. More tools than you could ever possibly use and pretty cheap on a student license, providing that you can prove you’re a student! It’s got a few bugs but if you want realism or a more natural feel than PS or SAI this is the program for you.
